KITTENS THRIVING AND BEAUTIFUL VOCALISATIONS

Thank you very much for all your kind words and messages of good luck for the kittens. We read every single one and take great heart from them.

The kittens are doing fantastically well and are exploring further afield and spending some periods of time away from mum. They are developing quickly. However, their mum is ever watchful and is still feeding them. We just had to show you this video of mum crossing the log with a mouse in her mouth and presenting it to one of the kittens. It is a beautiful forest scene and even more special if you can listen with the sound on. You will hear the mother making vocalisations and then the kittens comes dashing towards her to collect the food. One is clearly a bit quicker than the other, which you can see enter from the left as the clip stops.

We have never heard this sound before but it is clear that the kittens know exactly what the vocalisation means as they rush towards their mum. It is such a privilege to observe these animals in a completely natural setting. We learn something knew every time and in over 10 years of monitoring them, we have never seen a mother presenting food to her kittens or heard this vocalisation.

And just look at the body striping and tail of the kittens. Very promising indeed.
