WALKING WITH WILDCATS ❄️😻🌲

Hi All

We've been having an incredible time in Aberdeenshire with all the fresh snow blanketing the landscape. Exploring the forest has been exhilarating, especially when at times we have literally been walking in the very footsteps of wildcats, who roamed these paths just hours earlier! 🐾

Our exploration through this stunning winter wilderness has allowed us to set up some amazing camera traps, which we hope will capture images of new wildcats. Although navigating through 2 to 3-foot snowdrifts has been exhausting (it’s a strange experience to be walking and sweating at -8 degrees Celsius) but the effort is more than worthwhile.

As we are now in the breeding season, the excitement only grows. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a successful season ahead and plenty of priceless kittens in the future! 🐱💕

Here are some photos from our fieldwork and a few images of Eve that we've got on camera. She is looking magnificent. Just look at that stare as the camera trap clicks into action. We have zoomed in on a few of them so that you can see just how incredible the coat of a wildcat is. It is multi layered and you can see a sort of fuzzy haze of guard hairs around her. They are perfectly adapted to their rugged Highland home and the cold and snow clearly doesn’t bother them at all.

We hope you enjoy the photos which you can see at this link:

You can support our work in a number of ways and we are extremely grateful for all of you who do so and enable us to carry on our work saving these most magical of creatures.
