THE MAGNIFICENT FINLAY

Hi All

It is with great excitement that we show you this video. As you know, Finlay has had his freedom for a long time and we didn’t want to encumber him with a collar. Therefore, most of the time we have absolutely no idea where he is. We hadn’t seen him for months, but we were not worried at all as he has proven himself more than capable of living free (although of course support is always there should he ever need it).

This footage was captured on a camera less than 100 yards from where his rehoming pen was taken. You can see how confident he is, he knows he is close to home as he strides beautifully through a ride in the woods. It is very clear to see that he is in magnificent condition and is obviously in his prime. This footage was also taken when the kittens were starting to explore widely. Did he come back to to say hello? We will never know.

We have ten cameras set in this area and this is the only footage we have of him. We haven’t seen him since. He didn’t come to his old den box, but then why would he? He simply doesn’t need to. Classic Finlay, we get a glimpse of him every few months and then he simply disappears like a ghost into the forests.

We often speculate on where he goes, which woodlands he visits, what adventures he has and it brings tears of joy to our eyes to see how far he has come and the adversities he has conquered. From that tiny, orphaned, hypothermic kitten, that was so cruelly taken, to the magnificent animal we can all see now.

You are all part of Finlay’s journey and our aim was always to give him autonomy over his own life. A chance to be free. He seized that chance and continues to do so. We don’t know when he will grace us with his presence again, but that is the very essence of freedom.
