FINLAY AND EVE😻😻

Hi All

We are delighted to be able to tell and show you that Finlay is back. Here he is in full winter coat and looking magnificent. What a difference from that tiny orphaned kitten, hypothermic and close to death. We saw him briefly at the end of summer, but we haven’t see him for a while until we checked this camera. It is fairly close to his original rehoming pen. He has been enjoying the freedom that every wildcat is entitled to, for well over 2 years now. Even though it is winter and food and shelter is available, he hasn’t turned up for either of these. He showed early on that he was a true survivor and expert hunter and he has learned to live and navigate the Highlands with ease.

We have absolutely no idea what he does or where he goes in between sightings. That is up to him and that is what freedom is all about. The most important thing is that he is claerly thriving. Look at his muscle and shoulder mass as he steps up onto the log. He is a ‘Bonny lad’ for sure. He makes our hearts sing and brings a tear of joy every time he graces us with his presence.

So he clearly hasn’t turned up for food or shelter. So what has caught his attention? We think there is another very important reason. The beautiful Eve. We have merged 2 videos together here and the second clip is of Eve climbing into the limbs of a trees. She too is looking absolutely wonderful in her winter coat. Now here is the interesting and exciting bit. These 2 clips were taken on cameras less than 50 metres apart. And look at the time on the videos. They are less than an hour apart. Look at the size difference between them as well. You will also notice that Eve is alone. Her kittens are independent and doing well. We will post about them shortly. However, it is coming into the wildcat breeding season and Eve will be fertile soon. So, it may be a coincidence that Finlay has decided to turn up and hang around where Eve is, or then again………… We dare to dream.

The main priority is that they are both the epitome of health and living life to full. We will do all we can to ensure they always remain safe. We love them and indeed all wildcats and we take their protection very personally indeed.

We hope that you enjoy seeing these 2 magnificent animals and lets all wait and see what the future holds. As always, we never know, but that is what makes our work so exhilarating. Here is the link:

Thank you as always, you are all our wildcat heroes for facilitating our work😻 .

Keep watching as more updates to follow.

Emily and a Wildcat Haven Team with tears of happiness in our eyes.
